Meh, it's a typical grocery store, what can I say? I am surprised though that it being the only Kings Soopers in the Highlands/Berkeley 'hood that they haven't put any money back into the store for a complete remodel. I would love for them to be able to carry the newer, trendier, organic products instead of the highly processed junk that tends to occupy their shelves. Well, a girl can dream right??

Hmm ok. I love this Soopers...BUT. I don't know why they don't carry everything other Soopers do. For instance, Evol Burritos and Fage Greek Yogurt. Both are weekly buys for me much like eggs and bread would be for some people. I don't get it because I can get these items at any other KS stores. The staff here are beyond friendly, friendlier than I have seen at other stores. The only other grocery store I'll think about going to in the area is Sunflower, but I think that KS overall has the same quality of produce at much more lower prices. And there is a gas station. Awesome.

I need an intervention, as you can see by my check-ins I have a serious problem with this King Soopers and their discount bakery rack. It's grown to the point where I'm buying so much stale bread it just molds before I can even get to it. And it's grossing me out. But it's so tempting and full of unique rolls, bagels, mini bagels, buns, loaves, pitas, muffins and donuts. Things that don't catch my eye in the normal section of the bakery where regular people shop. On the rack, you can't sense the age of this already-going-bad bread (unless of course you read the label but why ruin the surprise?), it just looks fresh and yummy all heaped together like Willy Wonka's bread factory probably looks like. But I'm cutting myself off. Saving a few pennies at the store just to waste a few bucks at home with an entire bag of moldy bread that I never eat in time is just silly. And disappointing and disgusting like this morning when the mini whole wheat bagels I'd been looking forward to for breakfast had already completely molded over in three days :( Here's hoping my slider buns (actually regular burger buns but definitely the smallest I've even seen) are still edible for dinner when I get home tonight...

The only thing I remember about this store (other than being typical in terms of King Soopers (goodness what a STUPID STUPID NAME)) is that I felt like I was going to get mugged and/or stabbed before I walked in the store. It just gives me that type of feeling. Which is strange since it's in what I considered to be a nicer area of town (more like gentrified). But I was not mugged, or stabbed, and I had a pleasant experience overall. Come here if you need to. Otherwise, fine another store in your area.

It's a super market.

Never thought I'd write a review on a grocery store, but this place has my heart -- mostly due to the sushi man! I'm in multiple times a week for groceries, including once a week for a grab-and-go roll. It's fresh, delish and decently priced so not too sure what Kym B's talking about (unless they switched back, I started going here September 2014) I do wish they had a sushi special once a week or once every other week, but then I'd probably be concerned about the freshness :) I've been disappointed with cleanliness at other King Soopers locations, but this particular location is always clean and for the most part the employees are wonderful. There is one lady that works the meat & cheese slicer that must hate her life/job. She'll do pretty much anything to avoid filling your order, even if she's the only one working and you're the only one waiting. I've avoided her and the lines by taking advantage of grab-and-go sliced meats/cheeses (located right next to sushi bar, amazingly convenient if you're looking for typical deli orders) I've gotten two booklets of coupons mailed to me in the past 6 months, with a total savings well over $50 (they send a 10% off entire purchase right around Christmas! Unreal!) and save money on gas. Produce is always fresh. Wholly awesome. And there's a starbucks if you want to spoil yourself while you shop.

I really do like this King Soopers, but I'll be taking a break from it until they get their construction complete, which may be a while. The construction is an absolute mess. They really should have shut this store down for a month and just got the construction done, rather than trying to stay open. Some aisles are barely wide enough for one cart, let alone two. Everything has been moved to different areas of the store, which would be fine if they would bother to put up signs where things used to be, saying "items in this area moved to aisle xx". My number one issue with this place being open during construction is that they aren't bothering to stock it. On my most recent trip there, they didn't have any raw nuts other than peanuts, not a single bag of frozen cauliflower in any brand, all of the deli rotisserie chickens were so incredibly overcooked that all of the skin was burned, and when I finally found where they had moved the frozen fish to, there were only like 3 kinds. They don't even bother to ask, "did you find everything alright" at the checkout, anymore. I'll be back when you get your crap together, King Soopers. Until then, my grocery moolah will get spent elsewhere.

It's the King Sooper closest to home. They are currently doing a revamp on the store and i think it will be great! The meat is usually pretty good, the frozen food has a good selection, the produce is pretty good, depending on what you are looking for. Check out is usually a nightmare. Always a line.

JAN2014 Major rehab completed. + Wif-Fi Much improved. 13JAN2013 After 30 years of spending that vast majority (90%) of my grocery money at King Soopers, I no longer do so. While this KS is just 7 blocks from my house, it is awful. The deli selection is pathetic. No Boars Head meats. It looks worn out. Compare it with the KS at the other end of Wheat Ridge. It is just depressing to shop here. So, we don't. - No Wi-Fi. Why not? The KS next to Applejack has free Wi-Fi.

This King Soopers is great! I shop there a few times a week. The staff is friendly and the store is always well stocked. A great place to go have lunch too!

I am here several times a week. Generally speaking, it's a decent enough grocery store, especially since the renovation. The high point is definitely the man who (I assume) is the produce manager. Medium height, middle age, ponytail. He is SO extremely helpful. If you are dissatisfied with your produce in any way, just let him know and he'll comp you a replacement. THAT is awesome. He will also slice into any fruit so you can taste it and determine whether you want to buy more. Total farmer's market style right there... I dig it. However. I do have a few problems with the rest of the joint. Yeah, I said joint... deal with it, writers of That One Recent Article Naming All The Words That Should Be Banned From Online Blogs and Reviews (joint is nowhere NEAR the perennially-annoying "nom nom nom," so get a grip, wordsnobs). First gripe: the Sushi Bar. It was SO GREAT when it first opened. A really nice option for a grab-and-go meal. But prices have gone up to higher than those you might find at a reputable sushi bar, and quality has gone WAY WAY DOWN. Judging by the package labels, they have switched sushi companies from JFE to something else. Not a good switch. Second gripe: no Ginger Beer. Not ginger ALE, ginger BEER. I keep suggesting they stock it, and it never happens. Even just Reed's would be nice. It's a pretty basic request, and my cocktail game would be eternally grateful. What's the point of having a suggestion box if you don't take the suggestions seriously? Third gripe, and this is a biggie. There is literally NO WAY to get to the store if you are wheelchair-bound (or pushing a stroller or privately-owned grocery cart) without walking into traffic. Yes, traffic. REAL traffic. Like, into the driveway from which cars careen around the corner from 38th ave. Shocking, but there is NO wheelchair ramp to enter the parking lot from the sidewalk on 38th (the main entrance) there! You literally have to enter the driveway alongside all the swerving, speeding cars. Is that even legal? I'd be curious to know... P.S. King Soops, you should talk to the city of Wheat Ridge and see if you can get a pedestrian-triggered signal (or at the very least, a legit crosswalk) so that people can get across the street at Ames and 38th without having to risk their lives. Did you know that there is a Senior Center and a Physical Therapy Rehab place right at the top of that hill, and MANY MANY people try to cross the street there? It would be in your best interest to make that crossing as easy and safe as possible. Especially considering your lack of wheelchair accessibility.

So much staff, so little assistance. As I was trying to navigate the less than intuitive store many times I ran into staff members chatting with other staff or a manager. Which, is fine..I don't expect much of anything from a low level grocery store. But after passing the same manager twice in the same aisle and him continuing to converse with his employees a nod, smile, hello, something is expected. I was going to ask him for assistance but it seemed like i would be inconveniencing him. Then when I went to checkout i walked past a few busy lanes and one empty lane with a cashier hand drumming on the counter, I decided not to inconvenience him either and went to self checkout. Then once I finally got to my car ready to go I found a cart crammed into my car, thanks King Soopers! Never again, Sprouts is just down the street :) I also want to note that I like other King Soopers, the one on Quebec in Highlands Ranch is amazing.

First of all, I want to thank King Soopers for sending coupons in the mail that are clearly based on previous purchases! They even throw in a couple coupons for absolutely free items... thanks! This particular location is right by my house. I enjoy the eclectic clientele, the new renovations which include a fresh sushi bar, and the general cleanliness of the entire store. On the flip side, this store seems to have a bit of trouble keeping all items stocked in a timely manner. When I ask if the item is available "somewhere in the back," employees are always happy to help, but I'd rather not have to ask. And here's what really gets to me: I always try to go through the self check-out, no matter how many items I have! Why? Because I do not enjoy hearing all the personal gossip that inevitably occurs between checkers, baggers, etc. They complain about work hours, other employees, personal issues that I don't want to hear about, etc, etc. It's uncomfortable and embarrassing. To make it worse, often times all the chatter results in some purchase of mine not to get bagged, and then I have to return to the store. sigh! So, thanks for the coupons, thanks for the clean and updated store. But keep shelves stocked, and please stop sharing personal gripes during check-out. It really isn't cool.

This King Soopers has been my grocery store of choice since moving to the area in 2006 (pre Sunflower/Sprouts). I shopped here throughout the renovation and it is finally finished (mostly)! The place is all shiny and new. The aisles are wide and it's newly organized- which, as a veteran shopper, may take a few visits to get acclimated. There is more variety of products now...a made fresh daily sushi stand, a Starbucks if you're into it... This place does have lines at busy times, but I find that they go quickly and have lots of lines open. The makeover looks great and I will continue to shop here.

I believe that this King Soopers has the most unfriendly, unattentive staff of any KS I have ever been to. Stopped in last week and found construction and no signage directing you to the correct aisle and the store a complete MESS. When I did the self checkout, I was continually prompted to "wait for assistance", there were 2 clerks there chatting to each other and not one said one word to me. They came to the machine , cleared the "assistance" and walked back and resume chatting. This is the 2nd time I have been to this store to be met by employees that do no speak one word to you during checkout! Not , hello, goodbye, thank you .... anything. I will not be back , I should have learned my lesson the first time.

I can't even lie. The layout of this store is BAFFLING. And that nice whole-store directory they post over every 4th or 5th aisle? It never has what you're looking for. Today, for instance, I wanted a gallon of apple juice. Juice was on the directory three times, canned, frozen, and refrigerated. A gallon of apple juice is none of these things. It's hilarious. That said, it's the best grocery in the area. Their prices are fantastic, their staff is helpful, the store is clean and well organized (if not well laid out, at least the product is lined up and displayed nicely). If you can't find a darned thing, there is generally someone to ask, and they are generally quite warm and helpful. When I need meat, I go to another market, but for pretty much everything else, I come here.

Well, my prior review was written for the 17th/Sheridan location, but somehow Yelp moved it here. It was totally inapplicable to this location, because this location previously SUCKED. hard. But today you could have knocked me over with a feather. Because of the Dragon Boat Festival frenzy at Sloan's Lake, I avoided my favorite KS location, and went here. Well, they had somewhat of a makeover since I last visited. There is now: 1. An actual seafood counter. 2. An actual meat counter. 3. Great selection of in-house made prepared foods. 4. An international cheese selection that blew me away. 5. Management that is detail-oriented and improving morale. The parking lot is still a little dicey in that the proximity to the busy intersection seems to impact flow in this lot. Pleasantly surprised and will not avoid this location as I previously did.

Well, more like Duke Sooper's. This is my friendly neighborhood grocery sotre, but it wasn't always that way. When my roommates and I relocated from Edgewater to the West Highlands last spring, this one usurped our grocery needs (from the KS down the street at 19th and Sheridan). Sometimes, I want the old one back. Not that this is a bad store, because I still find myself there every week. As a company, King Sooper's is a 4 or 5 star vendor in my book, and you'd have to look far and wide to find me in an Albertson's or Safeway. But this particular store has a few drawbacks. The aisles are small, and the selection seems sub-par when compared with other King Sooper's stores I've visited (especially ethnic foods). It's kind of like a grocery store sampler, and will provide little for shoppers looking for specialty items. The checkers and baggers are friendly, but lines sometimes lean toward the long side, and the store often seems unprepared during peak hours. The parking lot here gets hot and humid in the warmer months, and gets a little shady at night, if you know what I mean. That having been said, this store is greater than the sum of its faults, and usually provides a quick and pleasant shopping experience. The workers here are helpful, and the store is typically pretty clean and organized. The value at King Sooper's is the main reason for shopping there, and their specials and discounts never disappoint me. I haven't had to rely too much on the bakery, deli, or floral departments, but any time I have, their specialists have provided friendly and prompt service. While I sometimes long for my larger, more fully-stocked KS down the street, this store never lets me down when I need to stock up on my weekly groceries or run out for a missing item. See you there next week and the week after.

This King Soopers is not in my hood but I which it were. Huge - it even has an outdoor furniture area. Good selection which included a great Italian isle stocked with the anchovies my hubby was looking for. I'd give it four stars if it had a better deli. Great place to fill up - the associated gas station gives a sizable discount for store shoppers.

So I live at 30th & Sheridan, which is smack in between the Kings on 38 & Sheridan and the one on 19th-ish & Sheridan. I choose this one because of these reasons: 1. Their deli displays the price of all meats and cheeses (other does not) 2. They have turn style plastic bag dealies at the self checkout. Agreed, their prices beat the pants off of Safeway. Just for the record King Soopers brand salt & vinegar kettle chips are AMAZING. The parking lot is a little gnarly, but such is life...
(5)Chelsea A.
All right it took me a while to get over the name "King Soopers" however, I must admit its a great grocery store with a good selection of whatever you may need. Oh and I've recently discovered the king soopers card which has saved me a good amount in gas. good times
(4)Valerie L.
One last update. So King Soopers did reach out to me, not through Yelp, but through Facebook (ah the power of social media), and gave me a sincere apology for the month-long fiasco. It was a sincere apology, not a strange blank e-mail from corporate. So at least the store manager is able and willing to make things right. That makes them A-Ok.
(3)Meaghan H.
This place has quite the atmosohere. It has a good selection of groceries but the croud makes for fun experience with every trip. I would def recommend hitting up sunflower market a few blocks away instead but they do have a pretty good baked goods section!
(2)Brandon B.
This is quite the sad King soopers, in dire need of a remodel. They do not feature boars head in their deli case and their cheese selection is very limited. Sadly it is close to home and less expensive then Safeway so i will continue to shop here soley for convenience.
